INVASION COMMUNITY UPDATE TRAILER (2015)

Shortly after winning Best Overall for Lil' Guardian Pyro I was approached by Jayson de Castro, a producer and modeler for several promotional content for Team Fortress 2. He told me that he was planning on developing a pitch to Valve Software for a community-created update to be implemented into the game and he was wondering if I was interested in making a trailer for the project.
I was fortunate enough to have a lot of creative freedom with this project, with the only guideline being "it has to deal with an alien invasion". Immediately I generated some striking visuals (juxtaposition of the TF2 team watching a cheesy sci-fi film as the invasion starts, the barn being torn apart in a vortex, the team being dwarfed by a gigantic UFO, a massive zoomout into space) and developed a script around that. The end product ended up being a lot more ambitious than de Castro had planned, but he wholeheartedly approved and production on the short began summer of 2014.
By winter of 2014, I had a blocked 3D animatic to show Valve with the rest of the pitch for the update. Valve responded positively, and production continued on the short the following Spring. July 2015 the trailer was complete. On October 6th, 2015 the trailer and the Invasion Community Update were officially implemented into the the game.

The trailer wasn't my only role in Invasion.
I had also been assigned the task of creating a "taunt", or a short animation that your character can play. Out of it came the "Burstchester", as depeicted below.
